I hope that everyone has stayed healthy and happy during this very isolated holiday season. I’m sure a lot of you are looking forward to having 2020 behind you; it was an incredibly challenging year for all of us. Even though 2021 may feel a lot like last year, let’s hope that it’s a better one for all of us. For some community news, I will continue as your president. Being that the first half of last year put mostly everything on hold and caused a lot of our (personal and professional) goals to shift, I volunteered to continue in this role. I feel that we’ve found a bit of rhythm with our virtual planning and operations and I’m looking forward to implementing what we’ve learned not only through 2021 but also in a post-Covid-restricted world. In other SLA news, I encourage you all to read the most recent president’s message from Tara Murray Grove. For our NJSLA community, we have taken the steps to close out our bank account at the end of last year. This requirement is part of the larger association restructuring. Additionally, with gathering restrictions still in place, our community has decided to plan for virtual events for the foreseeable future. Please let us know if you would like to get involved in any community event planning. Finally, I’d like to introduce our board members and community leaders for this upcoming year. President: Angela Pagliaro Vice President/Program Chair: Emma C. Moore Secretary: Anya Bartelmann Past President/Nominating Chair: Janet Cooper Weiss Director of Communications - Anitha Steventon Webmaster - Jeanne Mauriello Membership Chair - Tammy Marshall Archivist - Louise Deiss We have leadership openings for our employment chair and our award chair. If you would like to learn more about the responsibilities of these chairs or if you would like to find ways to get involved with the community at large, please reach out. Again, thank you all so much for your patience and continued support to this community. The more we as a community and as New Jerseyans keep doing our part, the closer we are to being able to celebrate being together again. If there are any resources you need, I encourage you to review the New Jersey COVID-19 site . You can also find someone to talk to by dialing 1-866-202-HELP (4357) for free, confidential support. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home when you can, Angela Pagliaro SLA Call for Volunteers Now Open By: Mike Rosenberg Mike Rosenberg , 2 months ago Hello, The SLA Call for Volunteers is open and available through December 2 . The volunteer form gives you the opportunity to submit your name for consideration to fill volunteer positions within your communities and on SLA committees, councils, and task forces. *If you’re currently serving in a volunteer position and wish to continue in that position in 2021, you must reaffirm your commitment using the same form. A wide variety of opportunities are available to fit different skillset needs, personality strengths, and time commitments. Continuing this year are " micro-volunteer " opportunities that give you the ability to "test the volunteer waters" and fit your availability Thank you! Mike Sign up Today!
